The Geek Sisterhood Lives!

February 27, 2009

We’re still waiting on Gaming Radio Network to find out when/where we’re going to be, but we’ve gone ahead and recorded a second podcast, and we’re going to try to get at least a couple banked in advance so that, thanks to the modern marvel of audio editing software (which I’m still trying to get the hang of), we can add pertinent bits to podcasts should the need arise.

On the more personal front, we’ve just started a Thursday night Skype Mouse Guard game with my husband, Sophie’s husband and a friend.  We’ve only had one session so far, but it was a lot of fun.  The Mouse Guard system has been described as Burning Wheel Lite (something that makes Luke Crane make funny, strangled noises), but I do see how it is a simpler version of BW.   I’m really looking forward to this.

That’s about it.  I just wanted to let you guys know that we are still alive and everything is still go.

Enjoyed your first episode, but I’m not 100% sure where to comment on it, so I’m gonna do it here. :D

The deal with the Spider-Man / Obama comic was that the ‘regular’ 250 copies retailers had to order had the exact same content – a regular Spider-Man story and a 5 page backup story with Obama – but they didn’t have Obama on the cover. The ‘incentive’ cover DID have Obama on it, and you had to order 250 to get one of those. So naturally the retailers charged more for the variant cover, and the people who were lured into the shops to get it were shocked that it cost so much.

Short version: Quesada is Teh Devil.

As for movies that are better than their source books, I’ll cite Jaws and The Godfather. Some people include The Exorcist, but I found the book MUCH scarier than the film. And Last of the Mohicans, though I found the book too boring to finish. Maybe it got better; I’ll never know.
